As the Art Director for my film Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! Angelica Monica showed an intimate and in depth understanding of the North Indian urban environment in all its details, colour and texture. Her team's ability to transform existing locations into a space with a substantially different architectural feel, to create environments full of detail and depth, turning around tricky and confined locations in a short time and rigorously conforming to a colour palette were exemplary.
Moreover, Monica's understanding of the look and feel of the set in all it's details of props, textures, design - in full relation to the characters and the story gave the film a reliability that added to the visual storytelling immensely. This is a rare skill, especially for those directors who value authenticity and visual cohesiveness above mere prettiness.

“The team she put together to work with us was excellent. We had thought it would not be easy for an Indian and a German crew to work together for the very first time. However in the course of the pre production, all our fears of not finding the right way to do business proved to be absolutely unnecessary instead, we, the Germans, were very often really surprised at what she and her crew would set up even at short notice.
I can only recommend anyone who wants to work in India to give himself in her hands - and just be calm and safe”.
